Gates for President / Atheists Come Out of Closet
When one of my favourite bloggers (/grumpy old men) mentioned a Dilbert posting, I just had to read more. Especially in the context of Bill Gates running for President!?
Scot Adams has noticed that atheists, with Richard Dawkins leading the charge are coming out. In the wake of 9/11, it’s acceptable to not believe in God. If the choice of neighbours is a bunch of men with beards, and an unhealthy interest in civil aviation (for UK readers - no, not plane spotters), or a chap who can set up your wireless network / figure out how a planning application works, it seems that Mr Logic wins the day.
And of course, the Mr Logic Classic is Bill Gates, who happens to have the kind of loose change that running for President needs.
Writing this on a Mac, I’m not too sure about the idea of Mr Windows running the most powerful country on earth . . . but then again, think of the advantages. Logic and reason over swivel-eyed zealotry . . . the ability to conceptualise and follow through on a plan for world domination . . . no regrets about making U-turns (remember ‘the Internet: a geek’s plaything?’), so when a policy isn’t working, we can get out of it in less than four years.
Mind you, poeple are also talking about Arnie for president. But I’m sure I read somewhere about some ‘constitution’ thing that barred this . . . for now.
