Some Catching Up
Not such a busy training week, this week - lots of work to get done, as well as preparing to be away for the next ten days.
We had friends up last weekend . . . and did some local tourist things - visiting Hadrian’s Wall on Saturday (COLD and WET - in fact too damned cold and wet to get the camera out), driving with five in the car along the route that Seth and I cycled last summer. It’s really bleak in the winter - this is how it was last July:
On Sunday, we tried to go to the Segedunum Roman fort in Wallsend. Unfortunately, owing to not getting our act together in time . . . we didn’t get there ’till three in the afternoon - their winter closing time. But I did notice that they have excellent facilities for cyclists - sturdy steel garages to park you bike in - free of charge (£5 refundable deposit for the key). I also took a photo of the plaque on the wall (not THE Wall) - just to prove we’d been there:
