Music While You Swim?!

After yesterday’s gadget post, you’ll never believe what I saw in the pool this evening. An mp3 player that works underwater!
SwimP3. How cool is that?

With Finis Inc’s SwiMP3, what you have is a 256 Mb mp3 player in a waterproof case that’s attached to your goggles. The clever bit is the headphones. These are attached to the straps, and press against your cheekbones. The sound is then transmitted through your skull to your ears, and presumably has some cunning equaliser / phase shift setup to take account of the different transmission media, because the guy who was using them said that the sound quality was pretty good.

Mind you, with a UK price tag of £113 for the SwiMP3, this is pretty pricey for a small mp3 player. I know I’m a bit of a technology freak, but this might just be taking things a little too far.
