The Day Before Race Day . . .

I had nightmares last night about not leaving Tall Friend’s house on time tomorrow . . . running to get my transition area setup, a broken spoke making a comedy wobbly wheel . . . the predicted weather forecast (RAIN and 17mph winds - except this is true :-( )

And then I woke up at 4 a.m. really hungry. . . but managed to get back to sleep in the end.

It’s great to be excited, but I worry that if this is the state I’m in for a little-bitty Sprint, how much more nerves would I show at a longer event?

On the bright side . . . the bags are packed, and I’m about ready to leave in the car for the 4 1/2 hour drive down to Warwick, where I plan to put on a damn fine show at tomorrow’s Stratford sprint triathlon. No, I won’t be comming first . .  or second . .  or even anywhere near, but I will have a good race.

And finally . . . when I got on the scales this morning, I’d hit my target race weight - down from 12st 4lb (172lb / 78kg) just before Christmas, to 11st 7lb (161lb / 72.5kg). All without any dieting or starving myself - just lots of miles.

No sense in getting worked up over what hasn’t happened. Just work through it calmly.
