Stratford Triathlon Results and Race Photos

Shockingly enough, Tall Friend beat me, and by only 19 seconds!

The splits (which include T1 & T2 somewhere) were:

Karl: 209th out of 542: Swim 10:01 / Bike 46:59 / Run 22:24 / Total 1:19:24

Tall Friend: 203rd out of 542: swim 8:07 / Bike 48:13 / Run 22:45 / Total 1:19:05

So on the face of it, my swim let me down - last time I raced at Stratford, I did breast stroke most of the way, and clocked a time of less than 8:30.

But I don’t see it that way at all.

Swimming this race in front crawl for the whole distance was really important to me, as it’s the only possible way I’m going to move up to longer distances. As I said in the race report, only five days before the race itself, the best I could manage was 150m. So I’ve now sorted enough of the technique to allow me to actually move through the water, and all I need to work on is the efficiency and power things to improve the speed!

There were official photographers all over the course. Their photos are copyrighted, so I won’t post them directly on this blog, and you can see pictures of me here, or Tall Friend here.

    Well done, Karl.

As you already know, you’ll have some things to work on. Identifying those is key.

    You’re on your way!

I prefer breast-stroke too, but I can do the crawl for long distances because I was on a swim team as a kid. It’s my strongest leg of triathlon. Anyway, good luck with it!
