Short Swim / Sorry Excuse for Not Running
My Daughter had her swimming lesson this afternoon, so while she was doing her thing, I practiced some of the stuff from the swim session on Thursday night with the NE31 Tri club. I did a bunch of 50 & 100m drills, focusing on keeping the drumbeat of my stroke going to cut down on the over-long glide phase. It’s a bit like having the fat sweaty guy with the drum on a Roman galley in your head while you swim.
So by the time we got home, had supper, and walked our Huge Dalmation, it was time for Daughter to go to bed. My wife’s hosting her book club this evening, so I was going to be at a loose end. I’d planned this during the day to be an ideal opportunity for a run, making up for my extra sleep this morning, which left me no time to turn my bike session into a brick.
But (yawn) I’m tired! Tomorrow I want to put in a longer ride (Durham and back looks good), and I don’t want to spoil that by getting completely exhausted tonight. So I’m wimping out.
Maybe I’ll run on Sunday . . .

What are you talking about? Swimming is hard work! Okay, I guess 17 minutes isn’t that long, when you are training for an ironman. Not too bad if you are going for the sprint triathlon though.
