Lacking Motivation?

Yesterday I was looking around the Fixed Gear bikes Gallery to see if Trixie’d made it onto the site, and I came across a short film about a guy who plainly just doesn’t know when to stop.

Take a look at the film, and think about this next time you’re feeling de-motivated - if he can, then so can you! It got me out the door this morning, anyway.

Oh, and I’ll also be offering prizes for the person who spots soonest through the film what makes this guy a cut above the average cyclist:

Workout:

  • Type: Cycle
  • Date: 07/09/2007
  • Total Time: 1:10:00.00
  • Distance: 19 miles
  • Average Speed: 16.29 mph

Yep. When I first watched the film, I thought “He really needs to work on that pedal action - just look at the way he’s mashing the crank . . . oh, hang on . . . where’s his other leg!?”

A few years ago skiing in the Canadian Rockies I found myself at the top of a mountain, I was at the limit of my skiing competence, I looked down and felt sick at how steep it was going down. I looked across and standing a few yards from me was a woman closer to 80 than 70, she only had one leg. I felt better after that.
Fifteen years ago I did a 5000m swimathon, at Newcastle City Baths, we were four to a lane, after a few minutes I noticed that one my fellow swimmers only had one leg, he finished 20 minutes before me.
The video reminds me a bit of Terry Fox.

Yeah, & I love the way the 6 NYC marathons are mentioned almost in passing!
