Short Swim in The Traffic
Yesterday was Daughter’s last swimming lesson before the summer break. While she was doing her stuff, I tried to get in some laps in the laned off part of the pool. It was pretty hard going - TWO people running in the water, and three others doing variations on the slow and steady breast stroke.
I managed to get in a 400m set, but then gave up - the traffic avoidance was playing havoc with my rhythm, AND after the morning’s brick, I wasn’t feeling my bounciest. So for the rest of my half hour, I practiced some stroke counting lengths - trying to beat my 15 stroke record. And here there was more evidence that I was tired, as the best I could manage was 17.
None of this matters much, as I also got to watch Daughter doing some of her lesson, where they’re now working up to a front crawl stroke. Give her a few months, and I’m sure I’ll have some competition there!
