Hebburn Triathlon: Official Race Report
You can read the official race report on the NE31 Tri Club’s pages. Their web site’s a got lots of flash in it, so I can’t provide a direct link to the page. So click through the navigation to “Results” under “Hebburn Triathlon”.
There were some astonishing times posted in the battle for overall race winner - 5:06 for the 400m swim; 30:44 for the 20k bike circuit (24.25mph!), and 17:26 for the 10k run.
And I came 93rd out of a field of 240, finishing 10th out of the 19 entrants from the NE31 club. So despite still being in the Learners’ swimming lane, I seem not to have completely disgraced myself.
And finally, the race’s organiser, Ed Cooper is hanging up his . . . whatever it is that race organisers hang up when they retire. Ed’s done a fantastic job of organising this race, which I’ve now completed twice. Without a doubt, under Ed’s direction, this has been the best organised, friendliest, and most enjoyable of races. Whoever steps into his shoes has a hard act to follow!

Congratulations!
