Duck!
Actually it’s a deer, not a duck.
I found this video on dvorak.org/blog - it’s something that’s never happened to me while I’ve been out on my bike:
I don’t have the Van Halen soundtrack either - the music playing in my head when I’m on Trixie The Fixie is “No Cars Go” by Arcade Fire. Oddly enough, it only plays on Trixie - the other bikes are mercifully silent. I just can’t seem to get it out of my head since watching a video about a Critical Mass thing in Chicago on The Bicycle Diaries a couple of months back.

HOLY SCHMOLLY!
where’s the spandex?
Good heavens! I love how the guy in front looks behind like, “Was that a…?”
Holy sh*te!
I had a similar experience this past Sunday. Bombing down the hill at 45 mph. On the long run out at the bottom were standing momma deer and spotted fawn.
They saw me the same time I saw them. Momma bolted right, which took her up into the trees. Baby bolted straight down the road, which meant it was running right next to my front wheel.
I tell you, it was moving and moving quick. I didn’t look at my speedo since I was looking and yelling at it to try to get it to move away. Instead, it veered left right into my path. Luckily I was already slowing pretty hard and it crossed right in front of me.
We both went through the intersection and it kept going, up and over the guard rail. I don’t think it realized that there was a good 15′ drop on the other side. All I heard was crashing of the branches.
And that was in the first 2 miles of my 85-mile ride.
