Cycle Along The Tyne
So having failed to knock one of my goals off yesterday, I went for a short ride with The Irishman. It was the kind of ambling along “shooting the breeze” (as he put it) riding, talking about the stuff that blokes talk about.
Well, actually, the stuff that engineers talk about . . . I’d like to build a recumbent trike, and I’ve been thinking of several different construction methods - “scrapyard challenge“, brazed CroMo; welded steel; welded aluminium; epoxy-bonded aluminium; stuff like that.
The Irishman just happens to be a bit clever on composite materials . . . would it be possible to build a monocoque structure, with the seat being the structural element from which all the rest of the vehicle would hang off . . . ?
More on this much later.
I was riding Trixie The Fixie, which the Irishman was quite interested in - he seemed really quite surprised at the speed of this bike on hills!
