Recipe: Aphid Toffee!
I found this excellent recipe for Aphid Toffee, and tried it out today:
3 table spoons of sugar
3 table spoons fresh greenfly
4oz of butter
3 desert spoons of milk
3 desert spoons of treacle
a little vinegarBoil gently for 20 minutes until a little dropped into cold water forms a ball.
Chewy and sweet - pretty damned fine in fact. You should visit the Bug Recipes Site to check out their other stuff before you try it out though - very interesting.
Also this afternoon, Wife and Daughter baked a huge batch of rasbery chocolate and cheesecake brownies. You just wouldn’t believe how good these taste!
And this morning, I went for a short ride on Trixie The Fixie, to bring my total for the fortnight up to 150 miles . . . only 644 miles to go on that target for the year!

Argh! Next you’ll probably tell us that “gullible” isn’t in the dictionary…
When we visited the bug zoo in Victoria BC they had a ton of candied bugs… chocolate covered, caramel covered… they had savory versions like salted, BBQ, Smoked, Extra Hot… The staff at the zoo we adamant that all of them tasted quite good.
For some reason I couldn’t get the girls interested in eating them.
That’s kids for you - never interested in eating their invertebrates or vegetables!
