No Rest For The Wicked!

We had to go into Newcastle today to pick up some stuff for Wife. And as it was such a sunny day, she suggested that rather than the two of us going in the car . . . I could ride.

Well, I can resist almost everything except temptation, and even though I’d already been out running this morning, I just couldn’t turn down an offer to go out in the sun. So over lunch, I moved the computer across from Wilf (who’s been rather neglected during the summer) and onto Trixie the Fixie. So much for the end-of-season rest period.

Anyway, it was a good ride, and although it was basically quite warm, the wind was COLD. I think there may be a change in the weather coming! Also, I’m not sure if I made some sort of mistake in fitting the bike computer’s sensor - it’s registered a maximum speed of 75mph. Now I know for a fact that’s not correct - I never got over 65 (with my legs doing almost 300 rpm) :-D

On the way home, I dropped in to see one of my clients in Walker (thankfully they’re used to seeing me in CoolMax everything, 3/4 baggies & shades). I also popped into the Edinburgh Bike Coop to see if it’s possible to fit a rack to Trixie, so that she could be used in the winter / carry some more serious luggage without putting any extra load on my shoulder.

Sadly the frame configuration and lack of eyelets on the new reardrop-outs I had put on in the early ’90s means that this ain’t gonna happen. Speaking of the Edinburgh Bike Coop, they have a film star working there. I’d wanted to get his autograph, but sadly it’s Steve’s day off. He does all his own stunt work - take a look & see what you think:

  1. [...] So while I was rummaging through quickrelease.tv for the video featured in the previous post, I found the shortlist for their video competition. Remember, the idea of their competition was to create “TV adverts extolling the virtues of bicycling to a mainstream audience. So, go light on the Lycra. No techie stuff. No Critical Mass protest vids. No art installations. Just great images of cycling that could make Joe and Joanna Public get out there and ride…for the sheer fun of cycling.” [...]
