Shifting Furniture = Cross Training, Right?

After Sunday’s spin class, I had a quick dip in the pool to cool off. Having first taken a shower, of course - it’s a pool, not a communal bath, after all.

Then when I got home, it was back to shifting furniture in preparation for the carpet fitters on Monday. On Saturday, we’d made really good progress, so I’d figured that an hour or so should see this job finished.

Wrong!

The problem is that our house has 4 bedrooms + a box room (10′ x 6′6″), and we were getting the bedrooms all carpeted on the same day. So Saturday had been easy, because there was space to put all the furniture into the box room. The trouble was that it was completely full (and I mean FULL), and I’d still got 1 1/2 rooms to clear.

So this easy little job took over six hours of sweat and tears. Six hours . . . I wonder if I should put it down in my log as an extended cross-training session to build the kind of mental toughness that next year’s 1/2 Iron Man is going to take ;-)

The good news from the swim is that my shoulder seemed great, with no discomfort after either Friday afternoon’s 500m or Sunday’s 250m. OK, so I’m still not swimming far, so I can’t say for sure that I’m now injury free . . . but it’s looking good.
