Rain - It’s a Cult Thing

RainOh, joy of joys. To wake up at 6 a.m. and hear the rain battering against the windows, and to roll over & go back to sleep. Nope, not for me though. I was up & at ‘em, wondering around the house collecting extra layers, fretting about how waterproof my clothes were . . .

I was seriously starting to feel like I’ve joined some sort of bizarre cult, where you go out and do your stuff, no matter what the weather threatens to throw at you.

Then Shana phoned at 06:45 - too much rain, too wet and too windy for her to come out to play… that’s girls for ya’.

So I noodled around on the computer for a bit, before finally taking Huge Dalmatian for a short run in the tempest. It was the kind of weather that has ice cold rain flung into your face so hard that it hurts, and when you spit, it just flies away from you horizontally, freezing before it hits the ground. I made the classic amateur winter runners mistake, and headed out with the wind behind me, which made for an ‘interesting’ run home.

And then having got home . . . the sun came out, and it was a beautiful day! (Provided that you could ignore the huge waves / trees being uprooted by the wind / etc)

Now that was a great song off a great album! ;)

Pop that in the player and you’ll get through a dreadmill workout without any problems.

I’ve spent the last couple of weeks complaining about the cold (while it was clear). Now its warm (relatively speaking) but wet, and I don’t like it! Shiloh missed her walk yesterday ’cause I just couldn’t muster the wherewithall to put on my raingear, which does keep me dry, and enter the storm. Sigh…better get with it today…and join the cult?
