Killing Me Softly
So Monday was my first full session at the Tri club, out of the learners’ lane and swimming with the big kids. It was 50 minutes of slow drowning - like someone was killing me softly, and just wanted me to stop struggling. I think the trouble was it was an everything but the kitchen sink session:
- 300m warm-up
- 400m paddles
- 400m pull-buoy
- 400m split between 200m fists & 200m full stroke
- 400m fins
- 50m cool-down
I had three problems with this:
- Lack of equipment. My swimming toys are my swimming trunks, and my goggles. So I didn’t get the full workout, and invariable ended up trying to hang on to the back of the lane.
- Goggles leaking. No idea why - I even tried swapping out for the nice new pair I keep for salt water only.
- I’m a wimp. ‘Nuff said.
So I only managed about 1500m. And for the last day or so, I’ve been quite sore in the shoulders - I don’t think it’s my injury problem thing though - just muscles complaining at having to do some work for a change.
