North Tyneside Easter Sunday 10k Results
The official results for the 2008 race are out. There were 1522 runners to cross the finish line, so probably a few more to cross the start line. That means you could probably take off a little from each of these times to get start line to finish line times
- My time was 0:45:21 in 235th place. I’m really pleased with this - not so much the time (which is a factor of the weather), but the placing’s just brilliant.
- Tall Friend was 0:51:18, in 559th place. This is actually his slowest ever 10k, but as I’ve said before, it doesn’t really count, as he had Man Flu*, and probably shouldn’t have been running at all.
- Shana & Mr Shana were at 1:06:27, in 1359th& 1360th. But as Mr Shana made her wait to cross the start line as the last person to start the race (he was worried that she’d get trampled in the stampede, and I mean last - they were followed by the police safety car for the first few hundred yards), I think we can take a good two minutes off that time, and I’m now more confident than ever that Shana could run 10k in less than an hour in better weather.
- And for those who’re interested, the winners were Nick Swinburn for the men’s race in 0:33:21, and Jessica Trowbridge for the women’s race in 0:37:17. I’m always shocked at how fast the winners of 10k races manage to run, and given the weather on Sunday, these times are doubly impressive.
Well done to everyone who competed, and a big thank you to everyone who organised, marshalled, and otherwise helped out on the day.
