Swim Kick
I’m starting to get almost comfortable with my front crawl, and mostly keep up with the other guys in my lane at the NE31 Tri club. But when it comes to kicking lengths, I really suck. Big time. I mean almost going backwards kind of suck. Actually, if I get it slightly wrong, I DO end up going backwards. Really.
I’ve moaned about the dreaded kickboard in the past, but this is no way to improve my performance. I’ve got to do something about this, so today I did a little noodling around on Youtube, and came up with this:
What I think’s happening is that I’m not swimming with my body flat to the surface of the water. My legs sink, and I go no-where fast. Maybe it’s time to get someone to film me swimming so I can see for sure. After all, that helmet camera I got IS waterproof, so I could look at things from above, and under water too . . .
