Sunday Brick - cold run

OK - I didn’t got to do the run STRAIGHT after jumping off my bike, but about 20 minutes later, as I had to go & fetch Daughter from a birthday party first (now that’s timing!). Does it still count as a Brick? I think so, but your views would be very much appreciated.

Anyway, I ran up the coast, about a mile and a half past the lighthouse, and back - carefully planned so that I’d have the wind behind me on the return. No point getting older if you don’t get any smarter. The run itself was pretty good - pacing fairly consistently at just under seven minute miles, with a 60 second walk, drink, gel rest every mile. Only one gel in fact, but I’d also topped up every 45 minutes on the bike, and managed to stuff a banana down my gullet while fetching Daughter from the party. But I did drink every mile, and got through 1/2 a litre of my funky rehydration mix (20% grapefruit juice, and 0.75g of electrolyte salts mix), and a few mouthfuls of Zym.

While I was out, I saw two tandems, one of which also had a kid in a trailer following behind. Don’t see that kind of thing here very often - it must have been the brilliant sunny weather that got them out from wherever they hide.

It was pretty cold though - OK while running, but as soon as I stopped, I could really feel it. I can’t wait ’till next week, when I’ll be running in the South of France!
