Sturdy Commuting Bike

I was at a training workshop today on the other side of Gateshead. For once I was in the audience (throwing soft fruit, insults, etc), and I had a few items to pick up on the way home . . . But Gateshead’s still within 15 miles of home, so I just had to cycle. It’s a climate change as well as a pride thing.

I rode Wilf, my Sturdy Commuting Bike - heavy and none too fast, but reliable as anything and pretty fun to ride too! Spring has finally arrived, so I also went out wearing a pair of 3/4 length trousers, and without any waterproofs - tempting fate, I know, but I got away with it today. Of course, I had a change of clothes in my case - an Ortlieb Office Bag, clipped to the luggage rack.

The only thing I’ve noticed with Wilf is that when loaded, there’s some definite flex in the frame - especially when you hit a bump at speed, when there’s a very noticeable rear-end shimmy. Maybe this was why he threw me off at the end of January . . . ?

Thanks for the stop by my page and the cool comment. Good luck in your 1/2IM, if I could bike and swim I would be a great triathlete too.
