Just Peachy After a Hard Ride
So yesterday I overslept. Again. I know why this time though - I’d set the meeting that I had to get to on my phone as starting at 4pm, rather than 9am, with a +3 hours alarm. Yeah, I know.
I’d intended to get up at six, finish off the stuff I’d been writing on Sunday morning, and then take a leisurely ride into my client’s offices to get there by nine. As it was, I had to rush - barely time for that second cup of coffee, before running out the door and jumping on my Sturdy Commuting Bike, Wilf.
And wouldn’t you know it - the wind was blowing hard in my face, with 35 minutes to do just shy of 9 miles. That’s only 15 mph average, which isn’t really flying. But on Wilf, who weighs around 45 lbs when laden with laptop, clothes, waterproofs, drink, lunch, safety shoes, etc, and into the wind, that’s a tough, tough ride.
I was bound to end up a sweaty mess - just perfect for a day in an office.
But help was at hand . . .
. . . I’ve recently got a couple of packs of Action Wipes sent over from the nice people in the USA. And if there was ever a day when I needed something to spruce me up, this was going to be it.
These are proper, grown-up wipes, for active adults to use. Kinda like a shower in a ziplock bag, without the residual smell of newly-cleaned baby’s bum (like that one there on the left) that you get from using other wet wipes.
They come in a packs of five or fifteen - I had one of the smaller packs stashed in the bottom of my Office Bag.
So I arrived at my client’s offices, and headed for the bathroom to change (I’m an expert in bathroom cubicle-based changing. No really, I could teach that Clark Kent a thing or to about his leisurely getting changed in the phonebox routine), in what I can only describe as a state of advanced dampness. The Action Wipe was just great - with Tea Tree & Eucalyptus, it seemed to just cut through the sweat, and soak it up. Yet despite the fact that I was using a wet wipe, I seemed to end up dry and silky-skinned that slipping on my shirt & other clothes was as easy as pie.
And you know how after you suddenly stop exercising, it takes a while for your body to finish cooling? So you continue to sweat, even though you’re now sitting down sipping a double latte mochachino with two shots of vanilla and a sprinke of cinnamon. Ewww! (No - not at the sweat; at the “coffee”. What’s wrong with good, honest espresso?)
ANYWAY - none of that with the Action Wipes. I don’t know if it’s the eucalyptus or tea tree, but it was like I’d just STOPPED sweating. Seriously cool - especially as I was wearing a shirt that would show sweat right away.
So my virdict?
Action Wipes are a great product that works really well. And they come in pack sizes that fit into pretty much any commuting bag or pocket. I can’t wait ’till they start selling over here in the UK. ![]()

Yep - I agree with Algernond!
Marc - not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing. I’ll take it as a compliment!
