Skiing! But Am I Getting Old And Sensible?
So we got here last night at around midnight, and by the time I got to bed, it was nearer to one in the morning. Then for some reason, I got virtual jet lag. Never had this? Well it’s where you wake up at about 2am, and you’re brain says,
Hello! It’s morning! Time to wake up!
So for about 2 1/2 hours, I lay there staring at the ceiling, listening to Daughter sleep very soundly in the next bed.
Then a 7:30 wake up, breakfast, getting her off to her lesson, and Skiing with Algernond. We did pretty well, covering lots of miles. But by mid afternoon, I was just completely bushed. Here’s the thing with this - when I was younger, I’d have just stayed out. But now I think I ski a whole lot faster, and generally with more style (as in I don’t fall over), so I’m aware of when things start to fall apart. I’m also aware of how much a major wipe-out could hurt, and how long it could keep me off my bike for.
So I baled out at about 3pm, and sneaked back into the chalet for some quiet time before Daughter got back from ski school.
Later, I may also buy myself a cardigan, pipe and slippers.

“When I was younger….”
At 30, I’ve been saying that to myself a lot lately. ‘Old man’ cardigans are in, go for it! I’ve been looking around for a good one myself.
I thought you already had the slippers and cardi…
No point overdoing things on the first day when you still have six days of skiing left.
