Last Alpine Run

On our last morning in the Alps, I took a short run down to La Tania to pop our last few post cards in the post box. I ran back up to the chalet along the open ski-runs, and did two good turns for the day:

  • There’s a flat section from the village centre to the bottom of the bubble lift up the mountain. This is hard work on skis, and you either pole it or push with your sticks. So I gave a chic and very grateful French lady a tow along here. De rien, madame, de rien!
  • The people who’d arrived the night before in the chalet next to ours had set off, but one of them had taken a wrong turn onto the piste, and fell, dislocating his knee (Yowza!). Apparently it was an old rugby injury that popped right back in, but that didn’t make it look any less painful. I helped him up, and off limping back to his chalet for some Mil. Spec. pain killers and some serious strapping. Not a good way to start a holiday, but it could have been worse - he could have been half way up a mountain when it happened,
