Let’s Negative Split This Sucker
I’ve been feeling tired all day . . . probably something to do with the mental anguish of having done my Tax Return at lunch time.
Anyway, in the afternoon, I did some work swapping gates around for our back yard (so now, you can get ANY bike out without having to jiggle the handlebars to get through the gap), hung a couple of pictures, and replaced Wilf’s front brake cable. Nothing tiring, but I just felt flat & in need of some exercise to blow the cobwebs away.
So while Daughter was having her supper, I went for a run along an inland loop. Basically two miles gently climbing up past the ice rink, a little on the flat, then a mile-and-a-bit sloping down, before a flat mile to get home. Perfect for pushing the pace . . . which is what I did, with these splits:
- 2:04 (0.33 miles, but appreciably down-hill)
It was fairly chilly, and I went out with fleece-lined tights, Nike Sphere base layer, wind-stopper, gloves, turtleneck and a hat on. Given the pace, I seemed to be taking some item of clothing or other off for all of the last three miles, and ended up with the wind-stopper tied around my waist, stuffed with the gloves, hat & turtleneck.
This showed up one of the side-effects of this everyday running I’m doing. My bum seems to be vanishing! It was really hard to stop the wind-stopper from slipping down and making a bid to trip me up.
