Oh That’s Soooo Good!

The injuries I picked up last year in training for the Steelman just aren’t healing by themselves. Basically my plantar fasciitis and achilles tendonitis - both typical running injuries - are getting agrevated / prevented from healing by cycling. And we can’t have that!

So today was time for desperate measures - the experienced hands of sports therapist, Laura Keady. She turned up at 7pm, with a fold-up massage table and a steely glint in her eye.

Laura spent an hour this evening in my home office doing brutal things to my lower legs. Painful . . . but just sooo good! So good in fact that I have another session booked for next week, a list of exercises to do every day, and a pair of new insoles on order.

Have you ever considered an electric bicycle? After my pelvis surgery I bought the Nine Continents kit for my Pashley. I liked it so much that even after I more-or-less recovered I still use it a lot.

The big advantage is that I can put just as much human effort into moving as I want. So I could push myself a little bit more every day as I was recovering.

And if I’m delayed getting to work or appointments, I just turn it on. Ontario allows 32 km/hr speed limits for electric bikes. For me, that’s plenty fast enough.

So glad that you’ve finally resorted to “desperate measures”. A skilled masseuse is a God-send.
