Is This The Bargain Of The Year?
Sometimes I can’t figure out if I’m poor, have an eye for a bargain, or am just plain tight. And not in the sense that Cameron from the Sarah Connor Chronicles would use to describe someone who’s cool either.
So when I noticed that Evans Cycles were having an early summer sale, I was intrigued. I need to kit out our tandem, Daisy for the 120-mile Dunwich Dynamo , which is in three weeks’ time. She needs to be festooned with places to keep food and fluids for this unsupported night ride.
Hmmm . . . looks like they’ve got the exact thing for me. Hidden under Sale > Bicycle Accessories > Water Bottles and Cages , they had a whole section on bottle cages. Looked like it might be just the sort of place to get what I needed - something to fit to a vintage tandem that’s got no braze-ons to accept a screw-in cage.
What I found was this:
That’s right - a Campagnolo Record bottle cage - reduced from £123.99 to just £111.99 !
Check out the blurb:
18g of Monocoque carbon fibre that demonstrates the level of excellence achieved by Campagnolo in the field of composites - Comes complete with Campagnolo bottle which fits like a glove
I’m struggling to see how they can afford to give away a free blow-moulded bottle at this price, but I guess the guys at Campag have pulled out all the stops on this one to get the production costs low enough to accommodate such extravagance.
I’ve only two questions on this fine-looking product:
- At this price, I think I need six. Oh, heck, let’s call it a round doxen Do they have twelve in stock?
- Does it have 11 speeds?
