Never Turn Your Back On The Sea
. . . ‘cos it’ll come to get you.
We almost saw this happen today on our walk with Huge Dalmatian to St Mary’s Lighthouse and back. There was a family out on the rocks, watching the yatchs sailing past, and probably wondering what all that shouting was behind them.
By the time they realised that people were shouting at them, it was too late, and they were cut off. Fortunately some divers had been in the water nearby, and were on hand to give piggy-backs back to the shore:

I remember it well in the north east and also in Devon: tourists coming to the seaside and not realising that the sea comes in faster than you’d think. I had to call the coastguard once for some people playing in the waves.
