Bangin’ Techno Again
I actually don’t have any bikes that are suitable for riding on either loose snow, or ice. Yeah, I know I could get / borrow a mountain bike, and then either buy or DIY some studded tyres for it.
If I really wanted to, I could ride in this weather.
But after my experiences last year, I’m really not that fussed - I have been there, done that, and stood swearing (for a full minute, without hesitation, deviation, or repetition) at the bike I’d just fallen off.
But I still have to ride. It’s in the training plan .
So last night I went to the spin class at Ashington Leisure Centre. 45 minutes of the kind of music that in other circumstances I’d run a mile from. 45 minutes of dripping in sweat. 45 minutes of being really shown up by the young slip of a girl who was leading the class.
Superb fun!

I finally realised that exercise classes are not for me when at the last one I went to the instructor kept shouting “Come on girls! Give it what you’ve got!”. And I ached for weeks after whilst the girls around me barely broke into a sweat. No thanks.
Aha, sounds just like my spin classes! At least I’m not the only one suffering
hehe - I have just ridden in the snow, but it’s not going to be much of a workout. It only works if you go really, really slowly.
Man, I can’t do spinning. I naturally push myself hard so having someone shouting at me to “PUSH IT HARD…DO IT…GO…JUST 6 MORE MINUTES…LET’S REALLY RAMP IT UP FOR THIS TRACK” is just annoying.
I agree about not bothering in the snow though. Through weather and illness I’ve not ridden for almost a month! Can’t wait for the snow to melt now. I have catching up to do!
