Post-Ride Cool-Down Run
Yet again I find myself struggling with this post-ride running thing. It’s not the "jelly legs" problem that people talk about - I’ve never suffered from that. No. It’s the problem of trying to keep my pace sensible. For the ironman itself, I’d like to target a marathon of between 4 & 4 1/2 hours, which means a pace of somewhere between 9:09 & 10:18 per mile. A nice easy jog.
So although my run after nearly 80 miles on the bike at just over 7 1/2 mins/mile is far from shabby, it’s also too damned fast! I’m happy to run the last four miles of the marathon like this, but not the first four!
Must try harder.
