Why Helmets Are Mandatory In Australia

Trawling through Youtube for an ad featuring Paul Hogan comparing other lagers to sheepdip, I came across this:

It’s obvious that Australia is some sort of Islamic Republic, and the sight of the wind blowing through a woman’s hair is enough to bring mayhem to the streets. But the weather’s too damned good to make them wear veils . . . hence the mandatory helmet laws as a good old-fashioned Aussie compromise.

    That explains everything. And as an added advantage it reduces the number of cyclists/distractions, and pressure for cycle inftrastructure.
