We All Get A Vote!
If you’re a CTC member in the North East, you’ll have received your voting form last week for the election to the CTC National Council. I was a bit perplexed at this, as it has space for several different people to cast their vote - family members of the CTC, if like us, you’ve joined as a family:
| Main Member | Household / Family Members |
|||
| Membership Number | ||||
| JACKSON, Tim | ||||
| McCRACKEN, Karl | ||||
This led me to two problems - do they really mean that my nine year-old Daughter gets a vote? And what are Wife’s and Daughter’s membership numbers? (When you join as a family, you only get one membership card)
An email to the returning officer confirmed that yes all family members are full CTC members who’re eligible to vote, and Wife & Daughter’s membership numbers were also supplied. So I guess our paper could look something like this when it gets posted off tomorrow:
| Main Member | Household / Family Members |
|||
| Membership Number | 123456 | 123457 | 123458 | . |
| JACKSON, Tim | ||||
| McCRACKEN, Karl | X | X | X | |
So my question is . . . is it ethical to ask Daughter to vote? And if I say that she’s too young, and the result of the election were a dead heat, then would my principals be any consolation?
I know which way I’m leaning on this, but I’m curious - what do you think?
