Its Not Raining That Hard
Yesterday’s weather forecast was for rain in the morning, but as bright, warm and sunny afternoon. I’m not keen on riding to work in the rain, but the prospect of a sunny ride home was seriously tempting. I resolved that if it wasn’t raining too hard, I’d ride in anyway.
Setting off from home in light drizzle, I was sure I’d made the right decision . . . but as the miles went by, it rained harder and harder and harder. By the time I was ten miles into the journey it was raining so hard that . . .
- It was actually hurting my arms under my rain coat
- I was wearing waterproof over-shorts and Sealskinz Goretex socks. The socks filled up with the water running down my legs
Getting to the office though, I found that apart from my feet, I was pretty dry. And when the sun later came out, I was convinced that I’d made the right choice.
The only slight problem was that I didn’t manage to dry my shoes or socks during the day - not such a pleasant experience putting them back on at the end of the day!
