Things You Don’t See When You Drive

  1. People on bikes
  2. Speed limit signs
  3. Otters

Otters? Yep. That’s what I saw on the way into work today. Riding along the footpath next to the Spine Road over the river Blyth, I looked down into the water and thought there was a strange looking bit of log drifting past.

Then I realised that this “log” had eyes, a nose, and paws, and that it was moving up river, against the current.

Ooooh! Just SO cute! I nearly stopped to text Daughter about it - she’d have been dead jealous. But as I had a Date With Destiny / a world to save, I carried on to the office and the ice in Ashington.

So that’s one more reason to ride a bike to work instead of sitting in a metal box getting frustrated at all the traffic that’s stopping you from getting to your Very Important Destination: You get to see the wildlife instead of just running it over.
