Cycling In Elysium

I stopped to eat my lunch yesterday in a field next to the road. Sitting there with the sun on my face, I took some time to reflect on the cars that were thundering past every fifteen seconds or so just 20-30 metres behind me on the other side of the hedge. It sounded pretty dangerous back there (though this is more perception than reality), but so peaceful where I was. Made me wonder briefly if something had happened that I wasn’t aware of . . .

If you find yourself alone, riding in the green fields with the sun on your face, do not be troubled. For you are in Elysium, and you’re already dead!”
