V For Vengeance

I could never condone taking physical retribution on a bike thief. Oh no, indeed - that would be wrong.

But this, via the ever-stylish Velorution is pretty funny:

It may or may not be fake, but it also contains the clue about why tackling someone in the act might not be such a good idea - no matter how red the mist before your eyes. Turns out that the would-be thief has a knife, but in this case doesn’t get to use it.

    Vancouver b.c.,urban cycling legend;bike courier coffee break.He sees his bike being ridden away,radios description;a number of couriers converge on suspect.Bicycle recovered,suspect is left naked ,confined with a U-lock to a parking meter .Oh yes with the felt pen comment on his chest,Spit on me ,I steal bikes!Legend or truth,I don’t know but I have to pass it on.IT could discourage a bike thief!Personal toll ,2 stolen bikes
