The True Cost of Commuting

I found this infographic a few days ago, and it got me thinking. What would these numbers look like for the UK? Well, seeing as I’m a bit (a lot) of an Excel geek, perhaps I could put together a UK version. . . just like this one, that you can click to enlarge:

It gets better - you’ll notice that unlike the original US version, some of the numbers have boxes around them. In the original Excel version, you can edit these numbers and see what the results look like for YOUR commute. You can get the Excel version of the Cost of Commuting Infographic here.

    Why is it in German colours?

    No idea - I just copied the colour scheme of the original one.

    Ah, this explains why by not owning a car and choosing to ride a bicycle, I can afford to over pay on my mortgage and have a skiing holiday, when friends who own cars are struggling to make ends meet even though they have a higher income…
