Ride To A Picnic - Just a Perfect Day

Ride To A Picnic - Just a Perfect Day

So my Decadent In-laws are here to stay and it’s the school holidays. Normally I’d do my long ride on a Sunday, but we’d hatched a plan for a picnic on Holy Island - the family would drive, and I’d cycle there before hitching a lift home. I plotted my route . . . ....

Bike To Work Yehuda Moon Style.

Bike To Work Yehuda Moon Style.

Beautiful day . . . but that wind from the North East, over the sea was just freezing. The ride in was pretty tough as a result, and the ride home an absolute blast. Like so much to do with riding a bike, there are Yehuda Moon strips to supply the visuals (click to...

My Own Private Pool

So after the mayhem of Monday’s pool session, this morning was a bit of a surprise. For the first ten minutes, I had teh pool completely to myself, and at worst, I was sharing with just four other people. If only it was like that every day! My pace was pretty good too - 35 minutes...

Please Learn The Rules Of The Pool

So the morning sessions at Ashington pool . . . Normally I’d do Monday lunchtime, so as to give myself an extra hour or so of zzzzz to get over Sunday’s ride & run. But someone in the office had booked the entire two hours I’d already scheduled in my diary to swim . ....

Use A Good Quality Lock

Use A Good Quality Lock

Remember the way to protect your bike? Use a good quality, small U-lock that’s very difficult to attack by jacking. Just like this, that I saw in Ashington yesterday: That’d be a security failure then.

28 Years Later

28 Years Later

When I was 12 years old, I first started riding to school. It was five miles each way, along some relatively busy roads. Yet there weren’t so many cars on the roads, and drivers seemed to have a whole lot more awareness of other road users. I can’t think of a single instance of...

First Run Home

This is the time management that means I get to train for stuff AND stay married. Now that long runs are heading above 15 miles they just take too long to fit into ’spare’ time, so I have to double them up with something else. So for the next twelve weeks or so, I’m getting...

Swimming Lap After Lap After Lap

Big swim today - 120 lengths of the pool. Turns out that although this is quite a long way, the time passes surprisingly quickly. And doing so many lengths, you get time to think about your stroke. Or something like that. Workout: Type: Swim Date: 03/25/2010 Time: 08:52:50 Total Time: 1:12:00.00 Calories: 613 Distance: 2,743.2 m Average Pace: 2:37.53/100m
