So Daughter has a two hour ‘Stage’ class on Saturdays at 1 pm. It’s in Tynemouth, which is about a four mile round trip, and so far we’d driven there to drop her off and pick her up. But last Saturday, two things struck me: It was a lovely day It’s only into Tynemouth. Although Daughter’s only...

I have of late, wherefore I know not . . .

. . . lost all my mirth, forgone all custom of exercises; and indeed, it goes so heavily with my disposition that this goodly frame, the earth, seems to me a sterile promontory; this most excellent canopy, the air, look you, this brave o’erhanging firmament, this majestical roof fretted with golden fire,—why, it appears...

OK, So It’s Not Autumn YET

A run to the lighthouse and back . . . when I went out this morning there was some of that autumnal chill in the air again. So for this evening’s run, I opted for the tights to keep my pipe-cleaner skinny legs warm. And didn’t bother to take any fluids with me. Doh! big mistake -...

Dash to the Shop!

This morning, Daughter and I took our Huge Dalmatian for a walk along the promenade (four miles for me, a lot further for her on her bike - needing a cup of coffee at the half-way point for me, and an ice cream for her) . . . and then after lunch,...

Blood Donor

I give blood. In the UK, it’s not about getting paid for it (’cos you don’t), but because someone might need your blood. It might save the life of someone you love, or a complete stranger, who’s just as loved by their own family. You can read more about this on the National Health...

Good Behaviour At Party Pays off

So over the weekend was Tall Friend’s Son’s christening. On Saturday night, the Little Fella was looked after by his grandparents, which meant that us youngsters (these things are all relative) could have a party. Three good reasons for this - wetting the baby’s head is an excellent tradition; Tall Friend’s Wife is now...

Rainbows & Road Rash

I’ve just seen the time, so this’ll be short. I went for a run this evening along the beach to the lighthouse. At the weekend, I bought a hydration belt thing, as I just couldn’t get on with the Camelbak-type thing - it requires too much suck to make drinking on the run a...
