Autumn is here, and there’s a definite chill in the air. I even dug out my gloves last night, though it still felt a little too warm for them when we set out.
Not much more to say, so here’s three beautiful things:
There was a light frost last night, so parts of the pavement had...

Short Run - BEAUTIFUL Dawn!
Owld Jarra Jim - That’s ‘Old Jarrow Jim’ to Non-Geordies
So anyway, one of the people I photographed on the Great North Run course today was Owld Jarra Jim - a man in his mid-eighties who’s still getting out and doing it.
Turns out that he’s a bit of a star - even featured on the BBC’s web site. He didn’t start running ’till he...

Great North Run 2007
I didn’t do this year’s run. Actually I’ve not done it for seven years - tough course and lots and lots and lots of people make this more of a fun run.
Anyway, one of Wife’s friends from back when she used to be a civil servant DID run the race, so Daughter and I...

And The Winners Are . . .
. . . for the quickrelease.tv Shimano Schwag competition . . . not me!
It’s at this point that I pull that fixed grin and wildly crinkled eyes expression that you see other nominees do at the Oscars when they’ve not heard their name as the winner. I may even start clapping wildly. Yes, I’ll...

Where’d my pace go?
This morning I took Shana for her longest run yet. With only two short walk breaks, she did three miles, in only a little over 30 minutes. Pretty good going - I think she’s going to do just fine in the Easter Sunday 10k, which is months away.
Actually, re-reading that paragraph, you’d be forgiven...

Wouldn’t You . . .
. . . go out running on a day like this! Sunrise was just before seven, and when I headed out the front door to meet Shana, it was just above the horizon, shining through the rain falling closer to us. In fact, it was quite rainy for a few minutes . . ....

Man Down! Medic! Meeeeediiiiiic!
No, not me.
Far worse - Daughter.
I thought we’d try going out as a threesome this evening - me running with Huge Dalmatian, and Daughter cycling. She wanted to go all the way to the end of the Tyne’s North Pier (about 4.5 miles round trip), so this looked like being a really good workout.
Trying...

Did I Miss Something?
The weather’s changed again. We had a cold front come in with some blustery, and frankly wintery showers yesterday. So when I went out to run with Shana this morning, it was really cold.
The sort of cold that I should have had gloves on - my Renaud’s disease kicked in, and my hands went...

It’s Hard To Be Good
This morning was just beautiful when I was out running with Shana - clear blue sky, sun just over the horizon, the tide high & sea flat.
In fact, the sea looked rather too good. Too tempting. As we ran past the harbour, I could see that the recent calm weather had really done wonders...

Warwick Triathlon - Results
Well the results are out - provisional results anyway.
But it makes no difference - Tall Friend beat me, by 84 seconds. The splits tell an interesting story:
Swim (& T1): Karl - 11:07; Tall Friend - 9:59
I can account for all of this with being involved in the swimming pool traffic jam. Then again, there’s...
