This is pretty cool.
A U-lock integrated into the bike design. It enables you to lock the bike to something, or for those just-nipping-into-the-shop moments, to render it un-ridable, by locking the steering.
It reminds me a little of those

. . . and your free-running, parkour high-jinks.
Because this is the real deal - an amazing video via a comment by ‘BSO’ in today’s Yehuda Moon strip:
Skip past the first few seconds of tricks (which I thought was going to be one of those "Oh look, my friend impaled himself on some railings, but...

This is a road safety video, showing the impacts of driving while distracted. In this case it’s texting, but it could just as easily be driving while talking on the phone - hand-held or hads-free - don’t kid yourself that there’s a difference:
I came across the video via Andy Cline’s Carbon Trace , and...

I’ve been flat out busy, with hardly any time to do anything useful like ride a bike just for fun, or write much here. But I do have this little film to show - made from clips and bits and bobs from when I was on holiday oh so long ago:
So is this a...

This via Carbon Trace - a video that appeared on the Commute Orlando Blog , that shows in clear terms how far from a parked car is safe for overtaking.
This was a real eye-opener for me, because I think that I generally overtake parked cars somewhere between the first and second position shown, and...

Not sure if you saw the photos & video of the penny farthing rider who completed this year’s Dunwich Dynamo:
OK, that might seem a little extreme, but then again Von Smallhaussen and I did the same event on a tandem lit up like a christmas tree, so who are we to judge?
I mean, it’s...

What a night. I mean, really, what a night!
Here’s how it started - last year, Von SmallHaussen volunteered to come and collect me, Doktor Seth and Tall Robbie from the beach. Seeing us there, I think she probably mistook our spaced-out exhaustion for some sort of Zen-like being at peace with the world.
So a...

I mean, really. Just WTF?
I’m hardly an expert when it comes to ‘long’ rides, but in this year’s Dunwich Dynamo I’ll be accompanied by some genuine novices. For one of these, the practicalities of 120 miles overnight, unsupported, with just one actual lavatory (at about 65 miles, and with a queue of ~200) might...

Notice anything odd about this sculpture, that’s adjacent to the cycle route between Whitley Bay and Blyth?
Remember that cunning trick they did when filming the Lord of The Rings, that made the 6′8" Sir Ian McKellan look taller than the 5′3" Elijah Wood? Lots of really smart jiggery-pokery with camera angles to fool...

Remember all those hilarious jokes about women drivers?
They were the staple for comedians right up to some point in the ’80s, and revolved around the perception that operating a complex machine like a car was beyond the simple minds of the fairer sex, who were better suited to cooking dinner, producing heirs, and getting...
